A good day today…We were productive and it was a gorgeous day, not quite 70, and we had the windows open all day…Leg work was strong, nutrition was good, and we were useful around The Shire.
In our continuing, so far futile, efforts to drum business for our freelance writing website, we purchased a content form marketing (CFM) service today…CFM is where someone posts on a website’s contact form for you and earlier this month one Phil filled out ours, offering his CFM services…He would post our message on other websites’ contact forms…Phil noted that proof that it worked was found in the fact that I was reading his message, which was automatically generated.
(Something else to consider is that my contact form, like millions of others, has what’s called a “captcha” feature, where a human must do something to show a bot hasn’t filled out the form…Ours is a math problem, but there are others, of course, and the program solves them for you.)
Phil makes a good point…Ol’ Sparrow is not all that easy to influence, so we’ve always admired advertising that works on us, so we looked into CFM a little more…Our research showed there aren’t that many companies that do this sort of thing and some more digging showed they use one of two programs to do the work for them: GSA and Scrapebox…(Scraping is the term for finding websites with contact forms…The programs have many other features, too, that involve “scraping” websites for information.)
The programs were affordable, too…And we have experience teaching ourselves stuff…But boy, we know from experience that the trial-and-error process is as time-consuming as it is exacting and frustrating, and it would probably take weeks before we mastered it…We could have Phil do it for us for the same price, targeting websites with keywords provided by us for an entire month…The only problem was Phil ghosted on us for a couple of weeks…He reappeared this week tho, announcing he’d been in the hospital, but was back on post now.
After that, we founded another website…Longtime readers of this crap may – or they may not – recall a couple of years ago we wrote a spiritual/philosophical book under a pen name…Despite having a recommendation from a Master others would kill Grandma for, no one was interested in publishing it…This wasn’t a bulletin…My Master said that a discipline rooted in ancient China would be a tuff sell and he was, as usual, correct.
Then it hit is us: remove all mention of it…The lessons offered are timeless and transcend nationality, so we are in the process of making them palatable for Americans and other English-speaking peoples…We even made a whiteboard video for it, tho there is still a lot more work to do.
The big news is the lawn got done today, to include the first watering of the season….Recall it rained yesterday, putting all lawncare plans in flux for today but – in the Upset of the Year – we really didn’t want to put it off until Friday…We cut it at the second-lowest height possible (the lowest height tends to kill the grass) and even completely lost our mind and trimmed the grass growing at the fence with the weed store, the east side of the cabin, and around the fire pit…A good part of the lawn was watered, too, tho not all of it.
We were done for the day after that, declining to follow up on either our content form marketing purchase or the new website, and we said no to getting a head start on tomorrow’s project work…We showered, put on clean jammies, and retired to bed for a satisfactory early afternoon of reading.
Sparrow’s Sleep Log: 1530 Thursday until 2330 Thursday…8.0 hours for the day and 41.0 hours for the week…This is an updated total; the totals for the past couple of days have been off…Apologies are issued.
