The Diary of a Nobody/June 13

Meet Sparrow, an average man passing an average life…

Saturday, June 13
Boy, ol’ Sparrow was really ready to enjoy a lazy day today, but that did not pan out at all…The plan, after morning project work was done, was to dispatch myself immediately – if not sooner – to the new chair for some reading and once I was there there wasn’t a whole lot else on the to-do list…After busting hump all day on Thursday’s day off, I was looking forward to doing nothing until it was time to go nap before heading in for my shift at the hotel.

My quest was unrewarded…Immediately after settling into the new chair, I had that gnawing feeling you get when you are not doing what you should be doing…It wasn’t a secret what I should have been doing either: I had some ideas for Sparrow For US Senate videos knocking around and it was time to do them.

I ended up doing four videos…Two were the All-American Party’s Faceplant page and dealt with our country’s virus response and black lives mattering…(I ended up not being entirely pleased with this one and ultimately deleted it.)…Two I did for Sparrow For US Senate’s Faceplant page and Twitter feed…The first one talked about the major parties aren’t going to change anything and how we were the only change on the ballot…The second was a black lives matter video that I finally was pleased with.

I tried assorted clothes, too…For the party videos well, they’re pretty casual people so I wore polo shirts, and you gotta be sure to wear different ones so, during post-production, you can tell the videos apart, and I switched it up for the two videos for the general public.

For the first one I wore a black crew neck shirt…It’s a pretty sharp look for ol’ Sparrow, though it is hardly the look I am usually looking for as a US Senate candidate, but you never know what is going to take hold…For the other video, the black lives matter one, I wore a white dress shirt and – get this – my incredibly hot, new red gingham tie!!!…I am not making that up…Red gingham may not seem suitably somber for our most pressing issue right now, but it is one heck of a look.

I’m still not entirely thrilled with the set up here at Studio 2B…Recall with the old iPhone I was able to Velcro it to the top of my monitor and with the online teleprompter, was able to make it appear as if I was looking directly at you the whole time…The new iPhone, tho, doesn’t Velcro well at all…You secure it to the monitor and it falls off within a few seconds…Like an idiot, I went to the local hardware store for even more Velcro and it still didn’t work and I think I forgot I had tried Velcro in the past.

I got a message from a voter, too…Ballots have been mailed out and he said he received his and, after thorough investigation, he decided to vote for me…God bless this man…I wrote him back, of course, and what is almost interesting is the fact he wrote me on the old Sparrow For Congress Faceplant page, not Sparrow for US Senate…This was not a surprise, however, because the Sparrow For Congress gets as much action as Sparrow For US Senate…Go figure…Although folks get stuff like this confused all the time, and I’ve run into people who thought I was running for everything from the state legislature to town council.

I’ve eaten pretty well the past couple of days…Recall Thursday I bought some carrots and celery and cucumbers for juicing as well as several bottles of kombucha…I’ve learned over the years, decades, of fighting the weight battle that it is folly to start a diet in one fell swoop…You have to ease into it…So for the next few days, I want to do three good things each day: two juice sessions and a kombucha and I can eat what I want around that…I got the Big Three both yesterday and today, so the new healthy eating plan is off to a good start.

Sparrow’s Sleep Log:
1800 Friday until 0100 Saturday
1700 Saturday until 2130 Saturday

11.5 hours for the day and 47.5 hours for the week, a strong total considering the 2.5-hour debacle at the big city hotel Tuesday night…The nap, in particular, was particularly strong, sleeping straight thru and dreaming vividly.

The Diary of a Nobody is a novel. All elements are either products of the author’s imagination or are used fictitiously. Anything else is a coincidence.

It was inspired by the 19th-century British novel of the same name.
