The Front Desk Supervisor

Damn, more end-of-month economies and it wouldn’t surprise me if end-of-year economies were rearing their ugly head, too, because we are cutting it dangerously thin on several things and without a SmartWater order we are throwing in the towel this week on premium water purchases because we are almost all out.

The FDS announced he was in holiday mode tonite and that outside the bare necessities of serving guests he otherwise did very little…This was plain because some stuff we keep in the back office, like toilet paper and boxes of tissue, we were out of and morning coffee service (MCS) was still out and the FDS usual air of industry was replaced with indifference…We were in holiday mode, too, frankly, dawdling all nite long, so we’re hardly complaining.

We were returning to the lobby after walking the hotel when the front desk mobile (FDM) rings and it turns out it’s that ditz from a couple of nites ago who yapped our ear off on the phone when we couldn’t help her at all…Recall she had no-showed earlier this month and wanted a refund and she had a reservation for arrival Sunday nite for two nites…She didn’t show for that, either, until now, 0100 on the morning she is supposed to depart.

Good gravy, she’s even worse in person: she prattled throughout the entire process…Her ex is still dying from some liver ailment, she brought her dog, too, and she used to live here and Fido won some cutest dog contest how about that and then she seamlessly transitioned into more crap on her dying ex and she’s disabled and it was a tuff trip up here which was plain enuff because it took her almost two goddamned days…Almost interesting is the fact that while she looks at least my age and even a bit (tho not too much) older, her ID said she was a full 13 years younger than me.

The big news is we were up (see Sleep Log below) right at 1700, feeling great, giving us time to get into the gym to see the Mystery Girl (MG)…Presuming she was there…Recall she wasn’t last week…But she was this week, tho!!!…The fly in the ointment was we didn’t get any face time like we did a couple of weeks ago…Circumstances really didn’t allow it, tho I suppose nothing was stopping us from walking across the gym and drumming up our usual lame conversation…We did exchange a couple of glances, but she didn’t curl any hair behind an ear or immediately start disrobing, so nothing probably would’ve come of it anyway.

Even more big news is the TLC we are showing our elbow continues to pay dividends…We’ve been pretty regular about applying the cream and taking the ibuprofen and recall last time we did tricep cable pulldowns without discomfort, tho at a fairly light weight…(We are still doing the pec deck instead of bench pressing, in an effort to put less stress on the elbow.)…Tonite, strictly as a field test, we went without the elbow sleeve, too…We have a layman’s theory that wearing a sleeve or taping something, or otherwise restricting a movement might do more harm than good because the force the body was going to absorb isn’t eliminated, it is merely dispersed someplace else, someplace that wasn’t designed to take that force.

Consider taping an ankle…Sure, your ankle is going to be sturdier, but the force it would normally absorb is distributed to the knee, which isn’t designed to take it…We could feel this using the sleeve, too…When we did hammer curls we could feel it in the shoulder, and the shoulders felt it, too, when we didn’t cable pulldowns…So we left the sleeve off today and there was no discomfort tho, as noted, the weight was a plate less than our usual max…Otherwise, the workout was strong.

Sparrow’s Sleep Log: 0900 Tuesday until 1700 Tuesday…8.0 hours for the day and 24.5 hours for the week, an excellent total…We only woke up once to use the can, too, and we slept great despite forgetting to take our usual Tuesday shot of Zzz-Sleep.

The Diary of a Nobody is a novel. All elements are either products of the author’s imagination or are used fictitiously. Anything else is a coincidence.

It was inspired by the 19th-century British novel of the same name.
