Extra, extra, read all about it.

In 1820 – The Greek marble statue Venus de Milo is discovered on a Greek island in the Aegean Sea. The statue was discovered by a farmer and is thought to of the Greek goddess of love Aphrodite, though since parts of the statue are missing this is not certain. It is currently displayed by the Louvre Museum in Paris. Unlike other artifacts of the era, Venus de Milo was never fully restored and is displayed much as it was found.

In 2001 – Tiger Woods wins the Masters, shooting a final round 68 to beat David Duvall by two strokes. It was the second of five Masters wins for Woods and his sixth of 15 major titles and gave Woods possession of all four major trophies at the same time, as he had won the British Open, US Open, and PGA the year before.

In 1978 – Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway are at #1 on Billboard’s soul chart – then known as the Hot Soul Singles chart – for the second and final consecutive week with The Closer I Get To You. It was the second #1 soul song for the duo, and the second of four soul #1s for Flack. The song also went #1 pop in Canada, peaked at #42 in Great Britain, and later spent two weeks at #2 on the Hot 100.

Some Philosophy Crap
The wisdom of the ages. Whatever.

I realize that is aiming high, but I think it is not a very satisfying accomplishment for me to aim at a more modest goal and achieve it.
