Troubleshooting 101 in the Nav taught me the very first thing you do when dealing with anything electrical is check to see if there’s power (you’d be surprised how often there isn’t) so we open the refrigerator and BOOM it’s turned off, which explains why it’s warm…

In 1671, Thomas Blood and others attempted to steal the crown jewels of England from Martin Tower in the Tower of London. Blood, masquerading as a parson, used intrigue and deceit to ingratiate himself with the keeper of the jewels and upon entry into the Jewel House, Blood subdued the keeper, though the group was captured before they could escape. For his efforts, Blood was pardoned by Charles I and even given land in Ireland. Blood died in 1680.

In 1984 – The longest game in American League history ends when the Chicago White Sox defeat the Milwaukee Brewers 7-6 in 25 innings. The game that had started the night before and was tied 3-3 after nine innings. Each team scored three times in the 21st – the latest inning in which two teams have scored in a major league game – and remains the longest major league game played to a decision. A 26-inning, 1-1 tie between the Boston Braves and the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1920 is the longest game in major league history.

In 1987 – Cutting Crew is at #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 for the second and final consecutive week with (I Just) Died In Your Arms. It was the first chart single for the group, their first of three Top 40 hits, their first of two Top 10s, and remains their only #1 song. The song also went to #1 in Canada, Finland, and Norway, peaked at #4 in their native Great Britain, and was Bilboard’s 32nd-biggest song of the year. Band member Nick Van Ede came up with the title of the song while he was in bed with his girlfriend.
