The Diary of a Nobody – Sparrow serves some good ol’ boys at the hotel. Today’s Diary.
It turned out they’re from Alabama and if you were directing a movie and asked Central Casting to send over some good ol’ country boys from Alabama, they would’ve sent these guys over…Heck, they weren’t country, they were hill and they were pretty funny hill folk, too…One guy said there were six of them, so ol’ Sparrow suggested three rooms each with two queen beds and they said naw, two rooms with two beds is fine…One has a lousy back and sleeps on the floor and, besides, “we’re from Alabama, we’re used to sleeping close together” which was said in a rather serious manner some might not’ve been particularly comfortable with.
The Bottom Ten/NFL Week 13 – What may well end up being the funniest Bottom Ten season ever rolls on, with Houston, Chicago and the Los Angeles Rams battling it out for The Dan Henning Trophy.
B-10 pollsters issuing collective sigh of relief as confusion over how tie would affect B-10 standings will prove moot if Texans never win again…
Owner Genghis Khan still holding coaching staff wives hostage, with latest communique advising the earliest possible release date is when Jaguars return to natural habitat on B-10 medal stand…
While Lions fan(s) can revel in past B-10 glories, Bengals faithful will have to wait until next year – at least – to shed Worst Team Never To Win B-10 Title label.

In 534 BC – Greek poet Thespis becomes History’s first actor – the first to recite lines as someone other than himself for the purpose of entertaining others – when legend has it he took to a stage wearing a mask and portraying the god Dionysus. Thespis’ influence is still felt in the English-speaking world, with the term thespians coming to represent actors. Thespis was also the first actor to carry costumes and such from town to town.
In 1994 – Jeff Hornacek of the Utah Jazz establishes a new NBA record for most 3-point field goals made in a game without a miss in a 113-103 win over the Seattle SuperSonics. Hornacek went 8-for-8 from three-point range to break the record of seven established by Terry Porter (1992) and Sam Perkins (1993). Hornacek’s mark would be tied by Perkins in 1997 and the record is now nine, done three times, twice by Ben Gordon and once by Latrell Sprewell.
In 1974 – Billy Swan is at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first of two consecutive weeks with I Can Help. It was the first of two chart singles for Swan and remains his only Top 40 hit. The song went to #1 in eleven other countries, including Norway, Australia, and Denmark, peaked at #6 in Great Britain, and would later spend two weeks at #1 on Billboard’s country chart. Swan said he wrote the song in 20 minutes and it was recorded in two takes.
