History’s long march.
In 1792 – President George Washington names Thomas Pinckney as US ambassador to Great Britain, the first such ambassador appointed by a president. Pinckney was unable to reach agreement with the British on a variety of issues, though – still as UK ambassador – he later negotiated a treaty with Spain which established the 31st parallel as the border between the US and Spain in the southern US. Pinckney had served in the Revolution and would later serve as a Major General in the War of 1812. Previously, John Adams had served as US minister to Great Britain under the Articles of Confederation.
In 1951 – Ezzard Charles defends his world heavyweight boxing title with a 10th-round TKO over Lee Oma. Charles had won the title in June 1949 with a unanimous decision over Jersey Joe Walcott and would defend the title eight times before losing it to Wolcott the following July. Charles continued to fight until 1959, finishing with a professional record of 95-25-1.
In 1980 – Kenny Rogers is at #1 on Billboard’s country chart – then known as the Hot Country Singles chart – for the second of three consecutive weeks with Coward of the County. The song also went #1 country and pop in Canada, went to #1 in Ireland and Great Britain, peaked at #3 on the Hot 100 and was Billboard’s 9th-biggest country hit of the year as well as its 34th-biggest pop hit. It was the seventh of 21 #1 country hits for Rogers.

Answer To The Last Trivia Question
Knowledge is power.
The NBA single-season record for most consecutive games giving up 100 or more points in a game is 82, an entire season, done twice, both by the Denver Nuggets, in 1981-82 and 1990-91. The 90-91 team gave up an average of 130.8 points power game, still an NBA record.
