The Diary of a Nobody – Sparrow fills Chris in on The Assault. Today’s Diary.
Chris was there when yours truly reported for duty and he took the opportunity to ask about my assault…I retraced the action for him and – because he hadn’t yet seen the video coverage – yours truly was able to make himself out be more heroic than he probably was….He said the line in my report to the police that noted I had declined both medical attention and a mental health advocate had made him laff.

History’s long march.
In 1870 – The Weather Bureau of the United States is formed when President Ulysses S Grant signs the joint resolution of Congress authorizing it. The bureau was originally assigned to the War Department for good order and discipline purposes and would become part of the Department of Agriculture in 1890, the Commerce Department in 1940 and became the National Weather Service in 1970. It is now part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
In 1980 – Rick Barry of the Houston Rockets establishes a new NBA record for most 3-point shots made in a game in a 117-95 win over the Utah Jazz. Barry made eight 3-pointers, a record that stood until Dale Ellis of the Seattle Supersonics made nine on April 20, 1990, and the mark is now 14, done by Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors on October 29, 2018. The 3-point shot was in its first year in the NBA, and Barry broke the record of seven he had established three days earlier.
In 1985 – Foreigner is at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the second and final consecutive week with I Want To Know What Love Is. It was the 14th Top 40 hit for the group, their seventh Top 10 hit, and remains their only #1 song. The song went to #1 in seven other countries including Norway and Great Britain, peaked at #85 on Billboard’s soul chart, and was Billboard’s 4th-biggest song of the year. The song was made with the New Jersey Mass Choir, which released their own version that peaked at #37 on the soul chart and at #12 on Billboard’s dance chart.

The wisdom of the ages. Whatever.
I am sure that if the gods (who probably don’t exist) really wanted to speak to us, they could find a better messenger than the liver of a bull…
