Writing worth reading. Usually.

The Diary of a Nobody – Sparrow spends about ten minutes in sheer terror, believing he’d lost his falsies. Today’s Diary.

It was about 1430 and we were in the chair reading and starting to doze off, so we decided to retire and we went into the bathroom to brush our teeth when a quick glance showed the falsies were not in their usual place in the falsie holder.

Sweet mother of Christ!!!…This is bad because there are only three places the falsies could be when we’re in the house:

The Bottom Ten/NCAA Week 13 – Like a train wreck you can’t help staring at, the Week 13 Bottom Ten awaits.

With ten (10) punts and three (3) points, B-10 pollsters “pretty sure” UMess earns weekly Ray Guy Award with 3.333333-to-1.0 punts-to-points ratio…

Despite only one (1) win, Buffaloes lack name recognition of, say, a Northwestern or UMess, and need both help and a big loss this week for B-10 medal stand consideration.

Despite coveted B-10 Conference of the Year Award there for the losing – literally – conference teams having no trouble leveling up for strong .500 mark in conference play.

Extra, extra, read all about it.

In 1963 – President of the United States John F Kennedy is assassinated while riding in a motorcade in Dallas. Texas Governor John Connally was also wounded and a bit more than an hour later Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested for Kennedy’s murder and the murder of a Dallas police officer. Lyndon Johnson took the oath of office later in the day and two days Oswald was shot by Jack Ruby. Ruby, however, died before the appeal of his conviction was heard and technically remains unconvicted of the murder.

In 1956 – The Melbourne Summer Olympics begin, the first Games to be held both in the Southern Hemisphere and outside of Europe and North America. The Games are well known for, among other things, a bloody water polo match between Hungary and the Soviet Union, who were at war at the time, a match Hungary won 4-0. The Games actually began in June when the equestrian events were held in Stockholm because of Australian quarantine laws. Eight countries boycotted the Melbourne portion of the Games, in protest of three different incidents, though some had participated in Stockholm.

In 1975 – Dickey Lee is at #1 on Billboard’s country chart – then known as the Hot Country Singles chart – for the only week with Rocky. The song also went #9 country in Canada and went #1 on pop charts in Germany and South Africa. It was the twelfth of 29 country hits for Lee, his third of four Top 10s and remains his only #1 song.

Some Philosophy Crap
The wisdom of the ages. Whatever.

In order to succeed, you must be a person who is able to perform hard work repeatedly over a long period of time.

Answer To The Last Trivia Question
Knowledge is power.

The NHL record for most goals in a period is four, done many times, most recently by Patrick Marleau of the San Jose Sharks in January 2017. Joe Malone did it three times, the only person do it more than once.
