The Diary of a Nobody – Sparrow is pretty tired and declines to do the lawn. Today’s Diary.
However, by the time the dew had evaporated, neither mind nor body was willing to exert the effort, fairly understandably, if you ask me, so lawn maintenance was deferred, probably until Sunday, but the prospect of using some PTO at the VSO and doing it Friday cannot be eliminated.

History’s long march.
In 1965 – Gemini 4 – the first US manned US spaceflight to last for more than one day – takes off from Cape Kennedy in Florida. The mission, commanded by James McDivitt and piloted by Ed White, lasted for four days and orbited the earth 66 times. The mission included the first spacewalk by an American, when White left the spacecraft for 20 minutes, though problems opening the hatch left it unclear if the hatch would close. An attempt to rendezvous with a spent stage of the launching rocket failed for a variety of reasons, including the lack of radar on Gemini 4.
In 1995 – Pedro Martinez of the Montreal Expos becomes the second major league pitcher to take a perfect game into extra innings in a 1-0 victory over the San Diego Padres. Martinez retired the first 27 Padres he faced before giving up a double to Bip Roberts to start the tenth inning. Martinez was relieved by Mel Rojas, who got the final two outs for the save. The first pitcher to take a perfect game into extra innings was Harvey Haddix of the Pittsburgh Pirates, who pitched 12 perfect innings and a 13-inning loss in 1959. The feat has not been duplicated.
In 1967 – The Monkees are at #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart for the 17th of 18 consecutive weeks with More of the Monkees. It was the second chart album for the group and their second of four #1 albums, all consecutive. The album replaced their debut album The Monkees at #1 and all told the group spent 31 consecutive weeks at the top of the album chart. The album went to #1 in four other countries, including Norway and Great Britain, and produced three chart singles, including the #1 I’m a Believer.

Answer To The Last Trivia Question
Knowledge is power.
The first major league pitcher to win his 300th game in the 21st century was Roger Clemens, then with the New York Yankees, who did so on June 13, 2003, against the St Louis Cardinals. He also recorded his 4,000th career strikeout in that game.
