Backstairs at the Monte Carlo/January 5, 7 & 10

January 5
The big news is that the supervisors will be rotating next week. We will be losing 88TonyB and 77Rick and 88Dick and 77Dwayne will now be subjected to the daily miracle that is the MCSD graveyard shift.

Apparently, this is the first wholesale supervisorial shift change in a while. Both Tony and Rick are glad for the change. Both have been on graveyard for years and officially Rick “despises” it, though Tony has only called it “brutal”.

Due to some piece of paper Michaels conned me into signing I am not entirely sure what my days off are next week. He needed to swap a day off so he could run off with his woman somewhere, which I was delighted to do. Unfortunately I am not entirely sure what days Michaels wanted to swap; I just signed whatever he had thrust in front of me and told him to let me know. He seemed sure it not only would result in consecutive days off for me, but that my place in heaven would be assured and that my clothes would also come out springtime fresh forevermore. Turns out Michaels was high, and, my suspicion this would result in non-consecutive days off was correct, but what the hell.

It was very slow in the hotel. There were only a handful of calls, none of them involving naked, young, beautiful Persian girls and the Foot on the Desk percentage had to be above 60 percent but this cannot be considered an Official Record because official numbers aren’t kept anymore.

I did move on a couple of calls with Coleman, which was time-consuming because Coleman was feeling chatty last night. I got the lowdown and why he’s been working so much OT lately. Turns out that on his last vacation he had gambled away an entire paycheck and then his car ‘went down’ so they canceled the insurance on it but it was still registered and when this came due the fuckers at DMV hit them with a penalty.

Here is your Henry lineup for tonight:

Henry 1 – moi
Henry 2 – Lee
Henry 3 – X-Ray

January 7
Here was your Henry lineup for last night:

Henry 1 – OMP
Henry 2 – moi
Henry 3 – X-Ray
Henry 4 – Jose

The usual Friday crew, sure, but I know all of you noticed the swap in the three and four holes, as X-Ray moves up to Henry 3 while Jose bats cleanup.

I’ve said it before: X-Ray is going places in the hotel racket and this promotion is just the latest step, done, no doubt, in deference to the fact he works the hotel 3-4 nights a week. Jose, a fine hotel officer in his own right, is primarily an outside unit now who works the hotel one night a week just for funsies. He took the switch in his customary good stride, noting that Henry 4 has regular access to the executive washroom.

It was the slowest Friday night in memory, probably because the big consumer electronics show is in town and everybody is tired. They’ll still be tired tonight, but since it’s their last night in town they may well feel they have to go out with a bang and we could be running around all night.

Here is your Henry lineup for tonight:

Henry 1 – OMP
Henry 2 – moi
Henry 3 – Twerp
Henry 4 – Fred

There are two open slots in the casino, however, and if they can’t get them filled the Henry units, as usual, are standing by, ready to take the broom handle.

January 10
Here was your Henry lineup for last night:

Henry 1 – OMP
Henry 2 – moi
Henry 3 – X-Ray

I was working for Michaels, recall, and after much research found out that the paper he conned me into signing gives me Wednesday off, which means X-Ray will get another crack at the vaunted Henry 1 slot.

X-Ray appears to be coming down with a cold. This isn’t a surprise. Henry units do spend time in the stairwells and sometimes they are drafty.

Tonight is 88TonyB’s last night on graves, and 77Dwayne’s first. Dwayne was the one who had the good sense to hire me so everything should work out, meaning there should be little disruption of the Henry unit schedule or any shenanigans like that.

I will be killing time as Charlie 3 tonight.
