After work, I went to the retailer to see The Wife and stock up on provisions for Sunday Spaghetti Nite, our new tradition we both like a lot…In our pre-shopping briefing, The Wife advised she had dug a large jar of sauce out of the grain cellar and that we did not need parmesan cheese which made me laff because in the quantity The Wife uses parmesan cheese it’s usually a good idea to get a jar, just to be on the safe side.

In 2013 – Eight masked, armed robbers driving cars with police markings steal approximately $50 million in diamonds from an airplane at Brussels Airport in Belgium. The robbers had been hiding at a construction site near the airport, drove up to the airplane, which was loading the diamonds from an armored truck, stole what they could and then drove off without being pursued. 33 people would be arrested three months later, 18 would stand trial and be acquitted and one is still awaiting trial. Only some of the diamonds have been recovered.
In 1918 – The Montreal Canadiens defeat the Toronto Arenas, now the Maple Leafs, 9-0, the first shutout in NHL history. The shutout came in the 30th game in NHL history and the goalie for the Canadiens was Georges Vezina, making this the first of his 13 NHL shutouts.
In 1956 – Kay Starr is at #1 on Billboard’s Best Sellers in Stores chart – a forerunner of the Hot 100 – with Rock and Roll Waltz. The song was Starr’s 14th Top 10 hit on the Best Sellers in Stores chart and her second #1, following Wheel of Fortune in 1951. Rock and Roll Waltz was the first #1 song of the Rock Era to have the phrase ‘rock and roll’ in the title.
