THE LATEST FROM THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIK OF AMERICA: It is time for the US House to impeach President Donald Trump and for the US Senate to convict him and remove him from office. He is not taking care that the laws of the United States be faithfully executed, as mandated in the Constitution. He is ignoring the courts. He is doing what he wants when he wants, without regard to merit, legality, or morality.
Hey, Remember Me?: The Constitution is very clear on the matter, with Article II Section 4 stating:
The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.
Dry, Technical Matter: Article II, Section 3 states, in part, that:
…he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed
Ladies And Gentlemen Of The Jury: Trump is not faithfully executing US laws, he is flouting and ignoring them, and we submit to you this an impeachable offense. An appropriately-minded Congress could have Trump impeached, tried, convicted, and out of office in a few days.
Fly In The Ointment: The current Congress, however, can’t be bothered to do this, as they are too busy cooing and waving their handkerchiefs at Trump as he lays waste to the Constitution. Exactly why America was open to Trump’s ignorance and idiocy in the first place is something which will flummox historians for generations to come.
The Bottom Line: What were we expecting? Donald Trump is selfish and ignorant, interested only in what will garner him the most attention. America is being governed off the top of his ignorant head, and with Trump ignoring the courts, push is quickly coming to a head in America. Are we going to continue to defend the indefensible, or we going to say no to ignorance and ineptitude? It is time to remove Trump from office.

In 1861 – The state of Virginia secedes from the Union at a convention in Richmond. On April 4, the convention had voted to stay in the Union, but changed its mind after the Civil War had begun on April 12 with the Battle of Fort Sumter and Virginia would join the Confederacy the following day. Later, 50 counties in northwest Virginia would declare independence from the Confederacy and would become the 35th US state in June 1863.
In 1983 – The Edmonton Oilers and New York Islanders establish NHL playoff records for most shorthanded goals in a game in the Oilers’ 10-2 win over the Calgary Flames and the Islanders’ 7-6 loss to the New York Rangers. Both teams had three shorthanded goals, breaking the record of two that had been done many times previously. The record was tied in 2023 by the Carolina Hurricanes and still stands. The teams also tied the regular season record, a record that is now 4, set by the Winnipeg Jets in April 1995,
In 1982 – Vangelis is at #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart for the first of four consecutive weeks with Chariots of Fire, the soundtrack to the movie of the same name. It was the first of two chart albums for Vangelis and remains his only #1 and produced one chart single, the title track which went to #1 on the Hot 100. The album won Vangelis the Academy Award for Best Original Score and the film won the Oscar for Best Picture.
