The Sunday Bottom 5
A ranking of some things.

1. GOP – As if there were any doubt, Congresswomen Liz Cheney’s defeat if Republican primary cements fact that GOP is firmly in hands of Donald Trump, despite fact Trump is a liar, a sexual predator, and an ignoramus with blood on his hands from an ignorant and inept coronavirus response…Oh, and it turns out he’s a thief now, too.

2. Deshaun Watson – You know, Deshaun, SB5 pollsters have a solid working knowledge of he said/she said deals, but 22 accusations???…Innoncence is not a reasonable claim here, no matter how firmly you choose to stand on it…Plus, you apologized…You got off easy with a 12-game suspension…Props to your agent, though, for negotiating a contract that will see you lose relatively little money.

3. USA! USA! The 3-hole staple…Country still far closer to the oblivion that awaits it than the prosperity, influence it once had because no nation can survive perpeltual war, deep social divide, and an utter lack of national vision – not to mention Donald Trump and his supporters – forever…Sunday Bottom 5 pollsters “strongly suspect” America has until half-century is out to show it can govern itself before someone comes in and does it for us.

4. The Bottom Ten The American classic returns this week, as the very worst college and professional teams vie for the ESPN Cup and the Dan Henning Memorial Trophy…Can Florida International and the New York Giants repeat???…Can B-10 pollsters come up with any more lame trophies to issue???…Find out this week as the 2022 Quests for Lousiness (Q4L) begins!!!

5. Fake News Tired of fake fake news claims???…Click here for a recap of real fake news, things the wizards among us were actually believing…Courtesy of the AP.

Extra, extra, read all about it.

In 1911 – The Mona Lisa, a painting by Leonardo da Vinci, is stolen from the Louvre museum in Paris by an Italian employee named Vincenzo Peruggia. Peruggia kept the painting at his Paris apartment for two years before moving with it to Italy, where he was arrested in 1913 and served six months in prison for the theft. Though now one of the planet’s best-known artworks, the Mona Lisa was not particularly well known outside of the art world – where it was highly regarded – at the time of the theft.

In 1982 – Rollie Fingers of the Milwaukee Brewers becomes the first major league pitcher to record 300 saves in a 3-2 win over the Seattle Mariners. It was the 28th save of the season for Fingers, who pitched the final two innings, giving up three hits and two runs to save the game for Doc Medich. Fingers retired in 1985 with 341 saves, a mark now good for 15th on the all-time list. Fingers’ mark was broken in 1992 by Jeff Reardon and is now held by Mariano Rivera with 652.

In 2004 – Terror Squad is at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first of three consecutive weeks with Lean Back. It was the first of two chart singles for the group and remains their only Top 40 hit. The song also peaked at #24 in Great Britain, was its fifth of seven weeks at #1 on Billboard’s soul chart, and was in its second of twelve weeks at #1 on Billboard’s rap chart. Lean Back was Billboard’s 10th-biggest song of the year, it’s 5th-biggest soul song, and it’s #1 rap song of the year.

Some Philosophy Crap
The wisdom of the ages. Whatever.

Young man, why wilt though haste so fast? Thy vessel sails the open sea, and the harbor to which I am steering thee is still far off.
