Despite the new coffee offering, we continue to enjoy some stability after the Spring Troubles, which saw both creamer instability and new cups and lids – not to mention a second type of coffee – introduced…The creamer situation is back to normal and everyone’s adapted to the new cups and lids.

Extra, extra, read all about it.

In 1863 – The Seige of Vicksburg in the American Civil War ends in a Union victory when Confederate troops surrender to US Major General Ulysses S Grant. The siege had begun in May and Confederate commander Lieutenant General John Pemberton had requested surrender terms on July 3. Rather than feed 30,000 Confederate prisoners, Grant granted them parole and the victory gave the Union control of the Mississippi River and split the Confederacy in two.

In 1919 – Jack Dempsey wins the world heavyweight boxing title, defeating Jess Willard in Toledo, Ohio when Willard was unable to answer the bell for the fourth round.. Willard had been so confident of victory that he had asked for immunity in case he killed Dempsey in the ring, but Willard was knocked down seven times in the first round and Dempsey would defend his title five times before losing it to Gene Tunney in 1926. Ringside seats sold for $60, about a thousand dollars in today’s money.

In 1992 – Sir Mix-A-Lot is at #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 for the first of five consecutive weeks with Baby Got Back. It was the second of three chart singles for Sir Mix-A-Lot and remains his only Top 40 hit. The song also peaked at #56 in Great Britain, at #27 on Billboard’s soul chart, and won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance. Sir Mix-A-Lot was born Anthony Ray in Auburn, Washington, where he still maintains a home.

Some Philosophy Crap
The wisdom of the ages. Whatever.

Nourish your mind. Rest in the position of doing nothing, and things will take care of themselves. Never ask the names of things, do not try to figure out the inner workings of nature. All things flourish of themselves.

Answer To The Last Trivia Question
Knowledge is power.

The latest inning in which both teams have scored runs in a major league game is the 21st, when the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago White Sox each scored three runs. The White Sox won the game 7-6 in 25 innings, still the longest game in American League history and the longest major league game with a winner.
