The Diary of a Nobody – Sparrow fixes a problem with his bathrobe. Today’s Diary.
The robe has two belt loops on each side immediately on top of each other and the problem was ol’ Sparrow had the robe’s belt thru the bottom one on the left side and thru the top one on the right side (my left and right, as the robe is being worn)…Genius Sparrow was about to take the robe off and make appropriate adjustments when it occurred to him he could merely remove the belt from the top loop, slip it thru the bottom loop, and BOOM, the problem was solved.

History’s long march.
In 1865 – In the American Civil War, Union troops led by Philip Sheridan defeat Confederate troops led by Major General George Pickett at the Battle of Five Forks near Petersburg, Virginia. The victory cut off the last Confederate supply line and led to General Robert E Lee’s final retreat. Union Commanding General Ulysses S Grant sent the captured Confederate flag to President Abraham Lincoln, who in his sleep that night reportedly had the dream that he was lying dead in the White House following his assassination.
In 1926 – Clint Benedict of the Montreal Maroons establishes a new NHL playoff record for most consecutive shutouts in a 3-0 victory over the Victoria Cougars of the Western Canada Hockey League in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Benedict broke the record of two he had established with the Ottawa Senators in the 1921 NHL Finals and tied in Game 1 of the series with the Cougars. Montreal would win the series 3 games to one and the feat has been accomplished several times since.
In 1972 – America is at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the second of three consecutive weeks with A Horse With No Name. The song also went to #1 in Finland and Canada, peaked at 33 in Great Britain, and was Billboard’s 27th-biggest song of the year. It was the first chart single for the group, their first of seven Top 10 hits, and their first of two #1 songs (Sister Golden Hair, one week, 1975). The song was from their self-titled debut album, which was in its second of five consecutive weeks at #1 on Billboard’s album chart.
