Next to me was a guy using his usual elliptical who I’ve seen regularly over the years…He takes long strides and he moves the handles in the same manner and he’s always moving his head and glancing up and generally giving the impression he’s going to drop dead in the next few seconds…

On This Date
The long march to today.

In 1945 – What History refers to as the Nuremberg Trials begin when 24 Nazi leaders go on trial for war crimes associated with the Holocaust and other atrocities in World War II. The trial was presided over by French, US, Soviet and British judges and of the 24, three were acquitted, two were not tried and the rest were found guilty, with eleven sentenced to death. Ten of these were executed in October 1946 with the exception being Hermann Goring, who killed himself before the night before.

In 1966 – The Dallas Cowboys establish a new NFL record for most sacks in a game in a 20-7 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Cowboys had twelve sacks to break the record of eleven that had been done four times previously. The record still stands and has been matched four times since, most recently by the New York Giants in 2007.

In 2020 – Lauren Daigle establishes a new Billboard all-chart record for most weeks at #1 when her single You Say is at #1 on Billboard’s Hot Christian Singles chart for the 111th non-consecutive week. Daigle broke the record established by Wendy Carlos – then Walter Carlos – whose album Switched-On Bach spent 110 non-consecutive weeks at #1 on the Classical Album chart from 1969-72. You Say first hit #1 in July 2018 and spent a total of 132 weeks at the top. It peaked at #30 on the Hot 100 in March 2019.

Some Philosophy Crap
The wisdom of the ages. Whatever.

Action must be guided by both intellect and experience. We learn…but we must also test what we learn in the world. It is not enough to simply meditate.
