A ranking of some things from the week that was.
1. Alec Baldwin – Sunday B5 pollsters hardly Mr Firearms, but even they know the first rule when picking up a firearm is presume it’s loaded until you yourself have personally verified otherwise…Had you followed this rule, Hollywood wouldn’t be minus a cinematographer right now.
2. American Athletic Conference – With major division college conferences changing membership left and right, AAC ensures membership will never, ever change by adding loser colleges – Charlotte, FAU, North Texas, Rice, UAB, UTSA – no one else could ever possibly want.
3. Donald Trump – The 3-hole staple…Hey Donny, you are still a lying sexual predator who believes 1) the moon is part of Mars and 2) that the Revolution was won by the securing of British airports…A question for Trump fans: which one of these elements continues to earn your support???
4. 2021 World Series – With games starting well past 8pm and lasting well over three (3) hours, kids all over eastern time zone looking forward to nodding off well before 7th-inning stretch…SB5 pollsters “pretty sure” only real question is whether this will be lowest-rated World Series ever or second-lowest rated World Series ever.
5. President Biden Fact Check – While President Biden doesn’t keep fact-checkers busy 24/7 like President Trump did, he’s holding his own…Click here for the latest presidential missteps, courtesy of the AP.

Look, there is no reason to have more coins in a tray than there are in a roll, so I took 50 of each and put them in separate baggies and put these in the drawer…Officially, this was done so Tammy will be spared having to count so many coins but let’s be honest here, saving ol’ Sparrow from having to count them again tomorrow was key, too.

The long march to today.
In 1929 – The Wall Street Crash of 1929 – which actually began on Sept 4 – continues with the largest single-day sell-off to date, 12.9 million shares, though some late buying by banks to prop the market up worked for a couple of days, staving off disaster until the following week. The Dow had hit an all-time high of 381.2 on Sept 3 and would close at 230.07 on Tuesday, October 29. The Dow would bottom out on July 8, 1932 closing at 41.22 and would not reach 381.2 again until November 23, 1954,
In 2002 – Patrick Roy of the Colorado Avalanche establishes a new NHL record for most games played by a goalie in a 3-2 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes. Roy played in his 972nd game to break the record established by Terry Sawchuck from 1949-70. Roy would retire after the season with 1,029 games played and the record is now held by Martin Brodeur who played in 1,266 games from 1992-15. Roy’s total is now third on the all-time NHL list, behind Robert Luongo (1,044).
In 1942 – The Billboard soul chart – then known as the Harlem Hit Parade – debuts with Andy Kirk & His Twelve Clouds of Joy at #1 for the only week with Take It and Git. The chart tracked songs that were popular in Harlem jukeboxes and Billboard would debut a best-sellers chart in 1948, an airplay chart in 1955 and its first unified soul chart in 1958. Today the chart is known as the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and the current #1 song is Industry Baby by Lil Naz X and Jack Harlow which is in its eighth non-consecutive week at the top.
