The Diary of a Nobody – The cat almost ends up in timeout. Today’s Diary.
The cat, curious about the issuance of her canned yummy ration, came in and woke me up at 0530 and while regular readers of this crap know sometimes she’ll be put in timeout and the bedroom door closed for this grievous offense, this was only an hour before the alarm was going to go off and it wasn’t a big deal to get up and get the day started…Besides, neither of us likes timeout anyway.

The long march to today.
In 1981 – Two aerial walkways at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kansas City collapse, killing 114 and injuring 216. The ensuing investigation showed the collapse was caused by changes to the original design that were both faulty and never properly reviewed. It remained the deadliest structural collapse in American history until the World Trade Center collapsed in 2001. The hotel had been built in 1978 and would reopen three months later.
In 1918 – The Philadelphia Phillies establish a new major league record for the longest errorless game in a 2-1, 21-inning loss to the Chicago Cubs. The Phillies committed zero errors in the game, and research into whose record they broke was inconclusive. The record was tied the following month by the Boston Braves and the mark is now held by the Chicago White Sox and the Washington Senators, who played a 22-inning errorless game on June 12, 1967.
In 1965 – The Four Tops are at #1 on Billboard’s soul chart – then known as the Hot Rhythm & Blues Singles chart – for the seventh of nine consecutive weeks with I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch). It was the second of 22 Top 10 soul hits for the group and their first of three #1s. Earlier, the song had spent two non-consecutive weeks at #1 on the Hot 100, their first of two #1 pop hits. In 1980 Bonnie Pointer hit both the Hot 100 (#40) and the soul chart (#42) with a version of the song.
